Lem
Like David I only became an avid Tolkien reader after I saw the movie. I'd heard of the book when someone I knew read it, but I myself had never been interested, so when I read the book I saw the actors as the characters. Normally I don't see any recognizable person as the characters, unlike you, Brett C.
I agree that a year is WAY too long to wait for TTT, even though FOTR will probably stay running for a long time.
I thought that FOTR was surprisingly accurate and aligned with the book. Most movies of books are different, some vastly different like that movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. The trailer for TTT though looks rather different.
I know that a lot of people like the languages of Middle Earth, so I thought I would tell you that there is an English-Elven dictionary that you can get. Someone I know got one and he told me that it includes both Sinderan and Kenya(r?). Terribly sorry about spelling.
I also agree that it would take away from the realisticness (if that's a word)of Middle Earth if the Istari could fly. I like stories if they're fantasy, but in a sense realistic, if you know what I mean. Stories that are fantasy/sci-fi but that could happen or that seem possible are more interesting to me than something wild and random. So to me it would just seem outlandish and ridiculous if the Istari could fly, so I'm glad that they can't.
Thoughts?
