Of Course It Took the Entire Fellowship
Danny

I never was trying to say anything to the effect that any efforts other than Frodo's weren't heroic nor praiseworthy. Of course it took the entire Fellowship to destroy the Ring. It actually took more than that. It took the efforts of Elrond, Galadriel, Glorfindle, Faramir, and many others also. Their is a tremendously long list of pivotal moments when individuals make key contributions to the effort to destroy the ring, without which, the quest would have failed. To say otherwise is like saying that there was only one soldier who really fought for the Allies in WWII. The point I have been so enthusiastically trying to make the last few posts has been that Frodo is unfairly despairaged because the ring overpowered him, and consequently his heroism is unfairly discounted as something less. To say that Frodo wasn't the one who did the most and sacrificed the most would be similar to saying that a soldier who was a paper pusher in WWII and never saw any combat sacrificed as much as one who was terribly wounded on the last day of hostilities on the front.
