Imagination vs Choice of Actors

Just a quick response to Brett C's musing about which actors/actresses we would place with certain characters if we had a choice. Having seen the movie first, I tended to associate the actors I saw in the film with the characters on the printed page, with the exception of Boromir. I thought the character of Boromir was less likeable in the book than Sean Bean's cinematic interpretation (which, by the way, I thought was excellent). In the book he came across as very arrogant while still being a brave and valiant warrior. In my mind I tended to associate him with a younger, stockier Bernard Hill who plays Theoden in The Two Towers and (I assume) Return of the King.

Anyone else have any thoughts?
