Gandalf's Death
Elendur

To Niel of Mithlond: A while back(at the end of January) you posted saying that Gandalf had not, as I had said, gone to Valinor but had returned to the Halls of Iluvitar. I disagreed becuase the Valar founded the order of the Istari, and they would be the most likely to promote Gandalf to "The White."

I changed my mind because of this, from a letter Tolkien wrote(Letters number 156):

" 'Naked I was sent back--for a brief time, until my task is done' . Sent back by whom, and whence? Not by the 'gods' whose business is only with this embodied world and its time; for he passed 'out of thought and time' ."

It sounds like Iluvitar to me. Niel(and anyone else), If you're still posting, please reply with your thoughts.

PS: I have to agree with Danny: Frodo is highly underrated. He is a hero because he knew what the Ring was doing to him but still went on.

PPS: I haven't come up with anything for R yet. Give me time(or give me ideas).
