Gondor to Shire Journey

Brett, you're absolutely right that the journey from Gondor to the Shire would take a long time (Boromir's journey took around 100 days!), but you must remember that Gandalf is not riding any normal horse. His steed is Shadowfax of the Maeras of Rohan(the strongest, swiftest, noblest race of horses in Middle-Earth). In ROTK, Gandalf says to Pippin that when Shadowfax is TROTTING he is going faster than any other horse could gallop. Therefore, Gandalf riding Shadowfax, would be a very swift journey and only take a week at most.
