May 21, 2002 Questions About Lothlorien Hello, I am new to this message board, although I daily read all of the submitions. I have read all of the books and have watched the movie many times, I just need some clarification. I was recently having a conversation with this girl about the Lothlorien sequence in the movie. I was telling her how I thought, and I know many of you think, that the Lothlorien scenes were too dark and they made Galadriel look too evil, especially when she turned all weird. She was telling me that Tolkien wrote that part of the story in the sense that Frodo was terrified of her, and that Peter Jackson did the scene right because he was trying to make us feel the same way as Frodo. Now, I know Galadriel did act a little scary in the book during that part and that she really said most of the things she did in the movie, but I didn't think she got as evil as she was shown in the movie. I thought that she was just saying all of that stuff out loud in a to Frodo in a conversation way, but with a little bit of agressiveness. If anyone could clear this up for me I would really appreciete it, thank you :) |
