W: War of the Ring
Elendur

I'm nearing the end of the alphabet, and with it this constant attack on the movie version of RotK, so I'm going to step back and take a look at the movie as a whole.

When I think about war, the first things that come to my mind are gritty fighting; starving children; battle planning; helpless victims. In other words: Helms Deep.

The grand battles of RotK, the Pelennor and the Morannon, do not bring those images to mind. Not as they are in the movie, that is. The wounded being dragged into the Houses of Healing and the looks of desperation on the faces of the Captains at the Morannon as Frodo's belongings are brought out, are sorely missed. The gap might have been filled by the charge on Osgiliath, were it not for the distraction of the impossiblity of Farimar leading his men to certain death when they had any other hope.

PS: Thanks to Eonwe and Brett C. for confronting the visual problems of the Havens.
