My Thoughts on A-z
Danny

While I don't have anything wrong with pointing out criticism of the films, I thought the A-Z effort was a bit unusual, and unfair. It seemed to me like so many of the letters were such nit picky details that we may as well have had one on there complaining that Frodo's hair wasn't the color we imagined it. I know the films have their areas where they let us down, and I would have liked to see some things different. However I think that tha A-Z effort was being critical of things that were bound to be different by the nature of the book to film adaptation. I think that we are often very unforgiving of any interpetations we don't personally agree with. That was the whole point of my last post about fan fiction. I think the A-Z effort falls in line with my feelings about us Tolkien fans sitting in our lounges drinking tea as we look at eachother over the rims of our bifocals and discuss how thoroughally unTolkein PJ is because this or that change are absolute crimes. In the grand scheme of things, I am far more frustrated and concerned about current events in the world than I am about any small disapointments with the LOTR films, and I would rather focus my critical efforts to issues that matter.
