The Nazgul in Morgul Vale (re: Frodo_lives)
Bob Praz
I haven't come around to posting any articles for a while now, but I have been reading everyone else's posts nonetheless.
About the question of whether or not the Witch-King should have sensed the Ring in the Morgul Vale, I asked myself the same thing in the theatre. In the end, I guess the answer is the same one that is in the book, except it’s used more definitely: the Witch-King was heading off to war, and so at the time he wasn't really thinking of anything else or paying attention to other things within the Valley save for his army. At least, that's my attempt to answer the question. Naturally, the events in the book make more sense (if you don't remember, the W-K does "sense" another power within the area, but eventually moves on because he is pressed by haste and because Frodo manages to evade his perception), but I guess PJ didn't want to have yet another sequence of Frodo being entranced by the Ring and the will of the Nazgul; the scene in Osgiliath, in TTT, had especially used that idea already. Anyhow, if someone has a better answer, I would like to read it.
Also, on another subject, I’m disappointed that there will be no preview of the ROTK Extended Edition on the Theatrical DVD, but I guess it’s the price you pay for releasing it in May. Yay, it will be a long wait till november...
PS: The A-Z was great, it actually brought up differences from the book which I hadn't noticed.
PPS: Is there anyone else here who can’t wait to see the movie Troy? I’m not saying that just because Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean are starring in it, but because it looks like something that may somewhat remind us of LOTR (without the monsters and such), except it’s historical. I know a lot of LOTR and fantasy fans take interest in history and/or mythology, so just curious...
