Re: Son of Whom?

Arwen's mother is mentioned in the books; her name is Celebrain (sp?). I believe I read that she was tortured to death by orcs, though I'm not 100% sure.
"Mrs. Denethor" died when Boromir and Faramir were young. Supposedly, Denethor somewhat blames Faramir for her death, and he reminds him of her, so that's one of the reasons he dislikes Faramir. (btw, please don't get mad if I'm messing up facts; this is all off the top of my head.)
Eowyn and Eomer's mother died sometime after their father did, I believe.
I have a theory (and a question). The fact that all of these people have no mothers is because women would be considered weaker and therefore more likely to die before any of the fathers died. Of course, Eowyn disproves the whole "women are weaker" thing. So my question is, since Tolkien modeled LOTR after classic/ancient myths and legends, is Eowyn's going to battle seen in any other myths? Or was that all Tolkien?
Peace and love,
