Right and Wrong?
Elendur
To Speedcorn:
It's ironic that your last post is on a Tolkien sight, not because its not about LOTR, but because of its worldview. One of the major ideas in Tolkien's writings, and in LOTR in particular, is that there is a right and wrong, a good and evil, that is not governed by the thoughts of Middle-Earth's residents. In short, it is not "what they feel is right", but what IS right.
Tolkien thought the Bible's commands are true, and right. By the way, the Bible does not command the burning of hereticts, the hanging of witches, or any of the acts you listed. Those are the acts of people doing what they say they feel is right.
Of course, you don't have to agree with all of a writers views to enjoy his book, but you can't deny this is a major theme.
