Logic and Athiests
Thorongil

I agree with Elendur, Pullman does not seem to hold Tolkien's values at all (I'm speaking from ignorance, all I know about him I've gotten from Niel's two quotes).

Most athiests I've known pride themselves on being logical (w/ some exeptions). Is Pullman really saying that he believes in a Republic of Heaven? That would not be logical.

I don't know if anyone taking time to read this is an athiest or not, but where did the universe come from if there is nothing besides the physical world? Common sense tells us something can not come out of nothing. Educated people may disagree, but there explanations usually come down to saying some mysterius force gave birth to the universe (Which can sound like Deism). Anyway, education can be a bad thing.

P.S: Not all the people persecuting Jews were Christians, they just lived in a 'Christian nation'. We know many of them did not understand the Bible by their slogans (ex: Christ killers???). But the center of the Christian faith is that Christ redeems all people, even those who have done that sort of thing.

P.P.S: I very v. v. v. much disliked Artemis Foul
