Point of View
Annatar
Truth can depend on view point. Perhaps not all the time, but alot of the time it is.
E.g. A religion that "send" volunteers to meet the Gods, with messages and petitions. These messengers go willingly as it is a great honour to meet ones deity. They also go because they love their people and wish to help them. They die for others to benefit. This is the highest definition of love. The truth these people see is that their loved ones are showing pure love. Perhaps some people of other religions would say, all other religions (especially ones where people die in adherence) are evil and all works of such religions are evil. Two truths, both correct, just depends on your view point.
E.g 2 Grey
I say its a darker shade of white.
He says its a lighter shade of black.
Sometimes differences in truth is just the labels we use, sometimes we dont realise the truths we hold dear are the same.
One thing is sure, the more convinced of our cause, of our truths, we are, the more likely it is that we will fail and stray because we are too arrogant to acknowledge we can be wrong. Check all things in the scales of love, what doesnt balance should be thrown out. An unoffical doctrine that used to be preached over here...Rep Of Ireland... in religion, was that any babies that died unbaptised, went to limbo. If I as a human would not leave a helpless infant in the dark (or semidark as some would say), if I a flawed human could show that much love, how much more would God show. Limbo and all such preaching is an evil and spread much hurt till it passed away. Thankfully we have a little more sense now (a little). People back then were convinced of their truths and people got hurt because they were wrong. Doubt is to be cherished because it keeps us more or less on the path and questions everything. Questioning is good, what is right will not faulter, so dont hold back from cross examining everything -religion, politics, everything.
I didnt mean to ramble on so much, hope you get the gist of what I mean.
See you all later :) Ash Nazg...
ps.. anyone see troy, Brad Pitt was groovy as Achilles. Alas for the story, Peterson butchered the story wholesale. All Praise for Jackson, at least he could do it right. A 10 year war in 14 odd days... too many emotions... sadness, hurt, bloodlust for directors....
