Hello everyone!
This is the first time I've been to good old tolkien-movies.com in a while, and I have been missing it. I have squeezed in a couple viewings of RotK on DVD and have to say I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Compared to the first two, it feels much more jumpy and rushed (especially between Minas Tirith/Cirith Ungol and Black Gate/Mt. Doom), but there are just SOOOOO many superior individual scenes crammed in that it more than makes up for it in my book.
I've noticed about my movie watching habits that I really like it when the story is told through images rather than words. That the story CAN be told this way in a movie is what distinguishes the medium of film from other media like literature and radio (film shares this trait with theater though). I love scenes with no (or little) dialogue; scenes with only images and perhaps music. So it's no surprise I love RotK! This happens over and over again. One of my new favorite moments in RotK is a silent shot of Gandalf sitting in a sunlit courtyard in Minas Tirith. I think it's just after Pippin's song ends. It's a little 'time out' between the more story heavy scenes that come before and after, and I love it!
Thanks for reading,
Eonwe
