To Danny: About "New Poll is Missing the Best Answer" I really enjoyed that article (although it was lengthly) and it explained Frodo's heroism the best to me out of all the arguments we've had.

Also, about the adaptation of the movies: I was watching some of the extended features of the TTT dvd and according to PJ, they were thinking of bringing Arwen to Helm's Deep. Imagine how ridiculous that would have been.
In addition, Phillipa said that they changed Faramir's character so drastically because they had been trying so hard to show how the Ring was so powerful and tempting, and to have Faramir just dismiss it like that was a huge let down to what they were trying to build up. And they wanted another obstacle to the quest and to Frodo so they could end TTT nicely.
