Bombadil and Fav
Tuor
One theory about Bombadil, though maybe a little out there, could be that the Ring has no power over him because he is already the master of what he most cares about. Maybe not Goldberry, but the Forest. He seems to be able to walk in the Forest and the Barrow-downs as he pleases.
The Valar he is thought to be is Aule, the master of craft and materials, which explains his power over the ring, but he cares little for possession or mastery. He also essentially created the world, which would probably make him the First, at least in the eyes of those who dwell there. Fits perfectly with Bombadil. I think the article with this conclusion was linked from someone about six to eight months ago, maybe longer, but I remember the gist of it.
My favorite movie of the trilogy...hmm. ROTK was more of an emotional movie (goosebumps, crying, fury directed at the Army of the Dead), FOTR was the first visual rendition of Middle-Earth. TTT was pretty much just Helm's Deep and Ents. I have to go with FOTR. There were less drastic changes to the book, pretty much everything was how I imagined it, even the Balrog. Could change, depending on the extended version of ROTK, but I agree, no Gandalf's staff breakage please.
