RotK on Ppv; and the Fourth Age
Bob Praz
To answer your question, Magic Fire, pay-per-view (PPV) is apparently showing the behind-the-scenes documentary "A Director's Journey: A Quest Fulfilled", which is featured on the theatrical DVD. That's according to TORn (theonering.net), anyhow, and it makes sense, as PPV often shows these kind of things after a movie. If you don't have the DVD, then it could be worth renting it.
By the way, welcome Nienna. It's always good to have fresh members on the forum. I just happen to be re-reading the Silmarillion right now, and I had forgotten how good and imaginative it was. What a great book! Also, I now see even more clearly all its similarities with greek mythology as well as Christianity.
Finally, I was reading this weekend's topic for the Hall of Fire chat on TORn, and it was concerning the fate and future of the races of Middle-Earth in the Fourth Age. So I was wondering if we could start some speculation on this forum as to what happened to the different races during the Fourth Age. We know that men have become dominant, and will continue to grow and spread across the world, whereas the elves will slowly dwindle and depart until none are left, save, perhaps, for a few elusive groups hiding deep in secret forests. But what of the dwarves and hobbits? We know only what happened in ME as far as Legolas and Gimli's departure, but in the following ages did the dwarves dwindle and disappear as well? Did the hobbits grow extinct as the larger men took over (despite the protection that Aragorn promised the Shire after the WotR)?
Just curious to know how everyone sees the post-Sauron Middle-Earth.
