July 6, 2004 Re: Annatar I am hesitant to bring up the analogy, but it so perfectly fits your reply about Huan. I recall a certain leader in Iraq a year ago who insisted that the US soldiers were not any where near Baghdad, and that all the news footage was staged. He mysteriously stopped making any such claims, and actually dissapeared from the media entirely about a day before Baghdad was liberated. I remember how fascinated I was by a man who would either be so dillusional about his own false reality, or such a blatant liar. I found it both ammusing and sad at the same time. So now Huan was a gift to Luthien, and the Silmaril was Morgoth's wedding gift to the happy couple? Sorry but it seems like an awfully similar set of humerously ammusing rhetoric to me, only this would be like that same leader (don't remember who he was) claiming that the US forces were still far outside Baghdad after the footage of the Hussein statue toppling was aired internationally.
