Agreements
Diana

Galadhrim, I agree (Guys, if this offends you, don't read). Society has always looked down upon women and throughout history, women have been treated as men's property. That's why I sometimes like some of the modern stories where women at least have a voice. Tolkien lived in the time when women were still considered inferior. Maybe that's why there were few women in the story, and he kept referring to humans as "men," as if we women are not people or don't even exist. However, he still showed that women are not weak with the few female characters, such as Galadriel and Eowyn. I think Tolkien meant to develop Arwen a little more, but as I mentioned his story was a somewhat incomplete, and he died before he quite finished it.

I hope they keep TTT the same. Changing the title spoils it, and will even confuse people. I didn't even see any connection until that stupid petition came out. WTC has always been the TWIN Towers, so why change it to Two Towers? Why can't we just keep calling them WTC or Twin Towers? Besides, none of the towers in LOTR are identical, so calling the book and movie "Twin Towers" would be ridiculus. Let's just refer to WTC as Twin Towers and Tolkien's book and PJ's movie "The Two Towers," keeping them separate.

Lem, thanks for the information! I became a fan after the movie, too. I saw "The Hobbit" with my 5th grade class, and our teacher mentioned about sequels. In jr. high, LOTR seemed popular, but I wasn't interested, and was intimidated by the length. I understand we have myths and fiction, but some are too illogical. For example, I felt that magical scars should have gone away when the Ring was destroyed. They could just have only the natural scars and memories remain. I also thought that having the 3 elven rings go free would be more logical since they were created before the One, and never touched by evil.

RC, I agree that there were some unnecesary changes in the movie, which were also what I was trying to mention in previous essays. I know some changes were inevitable, but I agree that they should have kept the same decisions with Gandalf and Aragorn. Then, the same characters could have the same lines as they did in the book. As I mentioned, we're not asking PJ to change the movie, but just saying that there's room for improvement.
