Poked His Nose Out Too Far
Annatar

Anyone here read the Iliad? There are characters fighting the Gods, Diomedes for one. Here is a human who risks death and torment to attack the Gods. Pure courage (and a dash of stupidity but thats by-the-by) The Gods also fight inturn against humans in the battle. An immortal fighting can't show courage or bravery. Courage comes with personal risk.

Sauron, could be destroyed or enslaved, if the ring was destroyed or taken by another Ringlord. The new Ringlord could destroy him or reduce him to slave status. Doubt and fear ever gnawed at him, yet still he strove couragously.

Gandalf, he died and returned. Even if he never returned to Middle-Earth he would still have been relaxing with his feet up safely in Valinor. Gandalf was basically immortal. How could he fear for himself knowing this? He didnt and couldnt. He perhaps feared for others, but its only when your personal safely is in danger, that it becomes couragous.

Anywho, better go :) Ash Nazg...
