Re: Orders
Louimir

Well, Faramir did what any child who truly loves a parent who obviously loves another brother or sister far more--that is to win the heart of that parent if only to be love equally. Faramir went into Osgiliath to prove his love to his father and to win his heart. You know, Denethor would not have known exactly how great Faramir loved him had he not seen his dear, dying son. Unreciprocated love is so painful particularly in a child to his or her parents.

By the way, this is one of the most powerful, the most moving, the most dramatic scene in the trilogy for me:

"If I should return, think better of me, father."

This shows how the late Professor weaves potent drama into his tale.

Come to think of it, this is like a reversal of the Bible's Parable of the Prodigal Son, only that it's a prodigal father we have this time.

Peace, so be it.
