November 1, 2004 Orders orders... Beregond, was disobeying an unethical order, basically to facilitate the burning of a live person. Orders against human/orc rights should be disobeyed. However orders that a soldier would consider dangerous or certain death cannot and should not be disobeyed. Subordinates lack the overall view of things. To make an omelette a few eggs need to be broken. Soldiers cannot complain if they get shot at etc. Thats what they signed up for. You take the Queens shilling and you take your chances. Beregond, if he had obeyed the order should have been hung as a criminal. Faramir, if he had disobeyed going to Osgiliath should have been hung as a traitor.
