Here I yam... ;)
Pip
I love making stupid titles that mean nothing :P
Many many congrats to Brett C. and may the Little Prince reign supreme for many a year ;)
Okay all, I'm almost prepared to make a big post... we'll see how it goes though...
So, I got the EE... I bought, I watched, I was slightly disappointed. I hate to say that, but I really was. Most of my complaints are about the same as everyone else's (Annatar, Brett, G), so I won't restate them. I almost laughed (i know, it's horrible) when Aragorn lopped off TMOS's head. It was kind of like "Okay, I've had it with this negotiation crap, how do I make him shut up really fast? Ah, right-"
WHAP.
It's just wrong. Sick and wrong. Just like when Aragorn challenges Sauron in the Palantir, and Sauron fires back with dying-Arwen and it's GAME OVER. Yeah, that sick girlfriend deal... that's low Sauron :P (hehehe i'll bet that's in the book or something... it just seemed cheesy at the moment)
Anyhoo, I'm rambling... so I'll get to what I was really posting about.
I wish to refute G's post: I for one do not think that Faramir would have been a better ringbearer; and here's why.
1.) He's a man. Men are corruptable. Men succumb to power and peer pressure and evil eyes. Hobbits don't generally lust after power, and aren't temped by it. That's a huge point in the book. Hobbits are simple, honest, happy, innocent persons. The biggest temptations they face would be perhaps cake... and other forms of food :P
2.) Faramir would never, never, never have taken the ring. Not even if he had thought himself the best for the task. Faramir was much smarter (and cooler) than Boromir, and that's why he was wise enough to refuse the ring. He knew that he was not immuned to temptation. He knew that he probably would not complete the task. (and quick note... Frodo did not fail, and it was not luck that helped him destroy the ring. It was meant to happen, and no one else could have ever destroyed the ring of their own will. Something [a greater Power] had to have a hand in it.)
3.)Faramir would not have been a better choice because he is a more obvious choice and Sauron would have been on the lookout for a big strong man to come and try to defeat him. He never thought that a small creature like a hobbit could have carried out such a huge task.
Well, I have more to say on the subject but I must go now.
And to whoever is monitoring the posts, my apologies for posting a blank post. I went on auto-pilot and pressed enter after typing the password. Ah, what this season does to our minds ;)
