Re: G
Frodo_Lives

G- Putting Faramir on the polls is a grat idea, but saying that Faramir would have had better potential to get the job done than Frodo just because he would have needed less assistance doesn't make sense to me. Actually, I think the assistance Frodo recieved at the beginning not only for direction but for moral support was crucial to his success in the first part of his journey. When Frodo got weak or tired or discouraged or needed direction he had many people to giude him and give him support. Whereas Faramir would probably have only taken maybe 1 or 2 people or just gone by himself. If he needed help or support whom would he have turned to? The fellowship was Frodo's support system. I have a feeling if Frodo only had had one person, even Gandalf or Sam, he wouldn't have done as well in his first half of his journey as he did with 8 other people with him.

As for Frodo just "getting lucky" with destroying the Ring just remember that the Ring might have and proabably would have had the same affect on Faramir as it did on Frodo. Faramir probably would have ultimatley been corrupted by the Ring and the outcome might have been that he claimed it for himself since he wouldn't have had anyone to bite his finger off for him. ;-)

Now in some areas Faramir probably would have been more efficiant than Frodo. Like knowing which way to go and things of that sort. But Frodo did have advantages over him too. Being so small probably helped him when in Mordor and Saruman didn't expect a hobbit to try and attemp such a task. He was more likely to expect a man.
