Denethor's Palantir
G

Brett C. makes a good point about the Minas Tirith Stone's apparent absence from either cut of ROTK. I would have loved to have seen it develpoed more but the fact that when Aragorn uses a Palantir to challenge Sauron we see him take it from the side of Denethor's throne. I believe this is Peter Jackson telling us that this is not the Orthanc Stone but the Minas Tirith Stone and hinting (incredibly subtley) that Denethor has been using this one. It would be a small miracle if anyone who hadn't read LOTR was to pick up on it though.
