And while I'm here...
Brett C.
So it seems my Angmar post will be on twice, because I got an email saying it was rejected for having too many errors [true] and then after I just resubmitted it, it's there after all. Anyway, if the errors were too much first time, read the later version.
While I'm here, may I say it seems there is now no doubt the filmmakers had Frodo deliberately push Gollum, as opposed to trying to grab the Ring and they overbalance. The deleted scene [thank goodness!] between Aragorn and Sauron on the extra's disc seems to confirm this idea.
In addition,it also occured to me that if Frodo, like Gollum, is supposed to be consumed by lust for the Ring at this point, why does he stick out his hand to grab the ledge? Wouldn't he be clutching for the Ring all the way down, overwhelmed like Gollum by the desire for the precious so fully that he does not even grasp his ultimate destruction 'til the last second. Either he pushed him deliberatley, or it was very questionable characterization by the writers [what a surprise, mumbles the still fuming over Gandalf's portrayal Brett C.]
