I must ask...

Since I like geography, and it bugs me when people say words wrong I must ask, do you say Sligo: slygo or sleego or some other way?

Something else I must ask, is Sligo a somewhat large town/city over there? I ask because I've heard of it before. And I know that over here at any rate, if it's not big, or have a song written about it, nobody but the locals know where it is or how to say its name right. Just curious:)
