The Man With The Power
Annatar

"Do you know the man?" "What man?" "The Man with the Power" "What Power?" "The Power of Voodoo" "Voodoo?" "You do" "I do?" "Know the man" "What man?"...
I had to share, because it was stuck in my head.

In relation to Gun control, I understand where you come from, Why should law abiding citizens not be allowed weapons? When the overall effect is detrimental to society. In 1994 (only stats I could quickly find)there was 14.24 per 100,000 gun related deaths in the USA, as opposed to 0.97 per 100,000 in the Republic of Ireland. What are we doing right that the USA are not? Stronger social bonds perhaps... We do not fear for our lives and so there is no pressing desire for weapons to defend ourselves.

People should hold the power to guard against corrupt government? Perhaps the Irish model is better, coalition governments - parties that act as watchdogs on each other (in most cases). Like Westminister, Toiseach and Prime Minister both get a good grilling as is only proper. "Prime Minister" Question time is one thing the US badly needs. The Rule of Law based on the constitution, backed up and overseen by watchdogs, plus most importantly, a deep seated truth... politicians can never be trusted.

See you all later Mon Ami :) Ash Nazg...
