Why do we love the Irish?
Farlas

I do have Irish blood in me. So that may be why I like it. Part of it could be that Ireland practically emptied its borders into our country during the Potatoe Famine of the late 1800's thus having a decent sized impact on our country. If you have relatives from the south, ten to one you have some Irish background, however faint. During the great influx of the late 1800's the Irish came to New York in mass, thus impacting the rest of the country.
Much of the music from "the Hills" greatly resembles Irish music. If you think about it, Irish names, stories, (americanized or not) have just invaded so many aspects of our culture it's frightening. Think about it, how many cartoons have you watched with a police man named Officer MCsomething-or-other. It's true Annatar! You will rule the world, and Donegal will be the new world headquarters! AHHHH!
Then again, every other European country has impacted us so again... Why Ireland? HMmmm! *thinking*
I think we have sympathy for the fact that both of was wanted independence fro Brittain, and that they unfortunatly never got it. Maybe, maybe not. It's an idea.
Question: Do the people of Ireland go as crazy over St. Patricks day as we Americans do? Same question applies for Fat Tuesday. Around here everyone goes out of their way to get packzi's (said poonchkie) or should I ask someone from Poland about that...?
