Allegory and Nail Hitting
Annatar

Bob Praz hit the nail on the head, the greater the availability of weapons, the greater the danger. Good people will hold back from using force, evil people or those without morals will blast away.
Condolences to the bereaved of Minnesota today. I just heard the news.

Why do some people rope religion and specifically Christianity into LOTRs? If you desire you can link Christianity to probably all books in some respect. Take the Odyssey for example, written a long time before Christ, yet it shows how a single figure, flawed yet of single mind can face off the evils of the world to be reunited with his family. A fight against Evil for Love. The story MUST have been inspired by a vision of the influence of Christ!
Aye Right!
One thing we humans do great is finding patterns, or what looks like patterns. Coincidences take on earth shattering meanings... eg Nostradamus. Ok I'll admit, Tolkien was guided by Christianity in particular R.C. but he did not, as he himself said mean it allegorically.

See you all later :) Ash Nazg...
