Danny, Jessie, and Alowyn
Diana
Danny and Jessie, I agree that the scene as the Ford shold be left as it was in the book. The movie robbed Frodo of bravery and usefulness. I don't really care if it had been Glorfindel or Arwen coming to help. Danny, for TTT, they had added the sword-crossing and Galadriel in the movie. They do not even appear in the book.
Welcome Alowyn! You sure are a Tolkien fan if you've already read the books at least twice at such a young age. I was intidmidated by the length and had no interest when I was your age. I didn't even read the books until I saw FOTR. Go ahead and post your essays. There was nothing wrong witht he grammar, spelling, or word usage in your first essay. I agree that some changes were unnecessary, and only led to more difficulties and bigger changes. They should have left some things the way they were, such as most of the dialogue. They really changed characteristics of quite a few characters, and ruined the images of them. I felt the Council of Elrond got butchered. I've also learned that Saurman dies by trippingand falling into a "spiked wheely-deely," and soon after, Eowyn kills Wormtongue. There was a petition on the internet to leave Saruman's death the way it was int he book. That I agree.
The petition I don't agree with is the one about changing the title. Those people must be stupid. Aren't they aware that the book was published decades ago? That's why I say it's a bunch of pranksters.
