More Movie Chatter
G
Faerlas you're thinking of Diamonds are Forever, which was good but not in the same league as Dr No, Goldfinger or Thunderball.
I would like to agree with Opalys the Crow that The Grudge (US version) is the worst movie ever but I fell asleep halfway through so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say that I might have slept through the good bit. Doubt it though. Titanic and Batman and Robin deserve mentions, as does a terrible horror flick I once rented called Paranoid. The director seemed strangely convinced that it was a good idea to strap a camera to the back of a cat, let it run around a forest and put the resulting footage into his movie.Lesson learned: I no longer take movie advice from anyone less than 5 feet tall. Hobbits have poor taste.
As for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the trailers were never going to do it justice because there are no quick, cheap gags that work so well in this format. Instead, each joke takes time to build and will fall flat if not taken in the correct context. When you take time to appreciate it in it's full absurdity it is a work of unparalleled genius and everyone has to see it. Even if the TV series is much better.
Anyway, off to book my table at The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. You are all welcome to join but whatever you do don't order the salad.
