Taxes & Petrol
Annatar

Everett, about the Income tax over here (I'm no tax expert and I hate everything to do with that stuff) but there are two basic income taxes of 20% and 42%. Different bands and tax free allowance etc. Ow already getting a headache. LOw Low Corporation Tax of 12.5% to entice foreign investment.
Add a little-big bit of social partnership and voila you've got near full employment.

My brother returned from the US for a visit last week... he told me, they, the Americans are complaining about the price of Petrol/Gas. $2 a gallon. I did a little conversion etc etc try $6 a gallon! We complain a little but what can you do. So next time you are at a filling station, count yourself lucky and stop complaining :)

He also said (at least where he lives, Minisota [sp?]) that there is a very large Anti-french sentiment there. Come on lads 'n' lassies you are smarter than that!

Irish neutrality. Hmmmm. No such thing. No judgement on the war or anything but Dept of Transport is paying for part of the transport of US troops to Iraq. Hardly Neutral. Perhaps we should help pay Iraqi insurgents who want to go to the US for "holidays"?
Nah only joking to make a point on how non-neutral it is. Besides, I dont totally agree with being Neutral at all. But till that changes we should abide by the Constitution and help no one militarily. Tis only fair! Dont judge who's right or wrong, just keep out.
But alas I forgot the whole foreign investment thing, the Irish economy doth not live on low Corp Tax alone, but on the whim of foreign Multinationals (massive majority US). Annoy the US administration too much and, well, a few multinationals pull out or cancel coming here.
Its not personal, just business/politics.

Mon Frere, gave a glowing thumbs up for all over there. Lovely people. Oh and no he doesnt work in a Nuclear plant.
He did say the US media do tend to sensationalise everything. That it was also a little parochial in its view.

Damn!! is this a whining post. Didnt mean it to be. Just threw up a few topics to discuss. The more I know the more I understand.

Anyways see you later :) Mon Amie, My friends, Mho Chara....
