Tax'em
Annatar

Everett, that was a great post. Cant say that I disagree with anything you say. Tax over here on petrol is mad 61% odd. In truth while its painful I hope it spurs us to develope a cleaner way for transport, power etc.

Hmmmm a flat tax supporter. In some ways I can see it as being only fair. However...
(there's always a but) There is a social responsibility on all citizens. Pure capitalism favours those with money, makes the wealthy wealthier and the poorer poorer. To balance this the wealthy should pay the piper, help the unfortunate, contribute more, because the system that makes them so wealthy makes the others so poor.
There is balance though.
The rights of the individual are of major importance, except where society as a whole is damaged or lessened. Socialist flavoured Capitalism is best. Quality of life is more important than quantity of money. The French did have the right idea with the 35 hour week (ok so it didnt work... yet. It was just because the rest of the world didnt follow, so making it fair).
You have more time for the important things in life, family...
Feels sometimes its: get up, go to work, work, back from work, eat dinner, go to bed, get up, to go work...... ad nausem.

Loved the bit about being caught between Iraq and a hard place. I dont see the passage of troops etc through Ireland during peacetime a breach of Neutrality. Neutrality - not taking sides. When all is peaceful there are no sides to take, hence cant breach Neutrality.
As for foreign investment... while all corporations have money as their God, it would be foolish to think that Governments cannot exert pressure on companies, and influence their decisions. Besides Ireland has acertain favoured status with the US. Hypocritical but I dont think we could have done anything else but keep our mouths shut in regards to Iraq and troop movements.
Oh and in the past year the cost of US troop throughput has doubled, just as the amount of troops being moved has doubled.

Terran Emperor Annatar! Do I have any support worldwide for this? There is alot of top positions up for grabs!!! Governors of continents, Sub commanders etc etc....
Ahhh it would be beautiful.....

See you all later my friends :) Ash Nazg...
