EU Constitution
Annatar
Everett, The EU has its faults but its benefits and future possibilties far outweigh any short term short comings. France and the Netherlands said no, not in as much to shoot the Constitution down but to give their leaders a good kicking, Chirac etc (which should have you Yanks jumping for joy).
Ireland to my eyes has not suffered any erosion of her Culture etc (apart from large yellow M's and the like). The EU is still searching for the balance between Country individuality and collective Union responsibility, but it is getting there.
History shows, with the movement of peoples, so do countries grow. Europe is comming out of the "greek city state" mindset, realising that we are all Europeans, and merging into a single whole. The trick is to do this permanently without a requiring a new Phillip/Alexander to bash heads together. Permanancy comes through mutual respect and support. In truth mutual respect and support the EU has in abundance. We just need time(and a little more accountability to the people). If only we had governments worth following. Aye there's the rub!
See you all later Mon Amie :) Ash Nazg...
