The Return...
Annatar

I was just day dreaming... as I normally do at work... would a book/storyline following the return of Sauron be groovy? What if he did have enough strength to take physical form again albeit in a lesser form, say on par with the dirty elves. Immortal yet, his powers for glamour and magic sorely reduced to slightly more than parlour tricks. The one great power that is undiminished is his power of persuasion, indeed it is heightened...
His knowledge is still great, yet, as a result of his fall, large gaps confound alot of what he knows.
How this is played out I do not know... will he strive for dominination again or will a reduced state move him to redemption? (a bit like "The Prophecy 3" - Archangel Gabriel)

Mayhaps he hunts for the gold that once made a ring. He seeks to reverse its destruction. Needle in a haystack search, which would probably prove useless even if he does lay his hands on it. But the story of the search and hunt for it could be... interesting.

Perhaps the gold (formally known as The Ring) has found its way back into use.
Perhaps what was once so great an evil, cannot shed the stain of what it once carried.
Perhaps it has no power, but the power to turn a user evil. No invisability, power of command etc

No matter, just the ramblings of an old man... searching ever searching...
"If thou beest he--but O how fallen! how changed
From him who, in the happy realms of light
Clothed with transcendent brightness, didst outshine
Myriads, though bright..."

Apt, very apt....
Great poem too!

See you all later :) Ash Nazg...
