Alas, I Began Too Late!
Farlas
Annatar, sorry, still don't recognize it, but I went to the website and recognized the author. He is a classic author I have not managed to read yet. I began reading a lot in my mid-teens, and had, have a lot of catching up to do.
I gladly admit I do not do well with too much deep symbolism and allegory. It bores me stiff. I like layered symbolism: Some of it is easy to catch, some more is caught the second or third time around, and then the rest dawns on you later. That's why I like C.S. Lewis so much. ...Nathaniel Hawthorne, Charlotte Brontë, ICK!...
Well, if it was some God-less paegan in deepest, darkest Africa, and they genuinely thought that killing humans to their god was right, I'd still have to say they're wrong. They are still just as guilty before God as anyone else, no excuses. I would perhaps understand their motives better, they honestly thought they were doing what was right. Though, I almost have to wonder if they wouldn't question their belief at some point... Anyway, they can be just decieved and mistaken I suppose.
Hmm... your comment about deeds and the people doing them... I wonder. Well, yes. An evil person could still do a good deed. A good deed is a good deed, no matter who does it I suppose. And, yes, good people have done evil things, so yes. Ack! the perversity of sin nature in a nut shell!
Well, the Crusades is a strange topic, and I don't think I am anywhere near qualified to pass judgement on it. I would love to sit down one day though with a large stack of books all about it and began reading them!
I can usually understand the arguments on all sides, but in no way do I condone most of them. I'm rather adament and staunch in my beliefs. Haven't you noticed?
Two questions- 1. How long does it take to drive across your country? 2. Do you hunt? Or, Do they have hunting in Ireland. Just curious! Completely random.
Namarië!
