July 26, 2005 re Faerlas and Everett Faerlas, I guess you did not understand what I was trying to illustrate. Well, that's okay. But I don't consider myself in contradiction with myself, I was just trying to say that I don't approve crimes BUT sometimes you have to go beyond the criminal act, not to say "Well, you've killed an innocent child but, knowing what you've been enduring in your own childhood well...we are going to let you go! Not guilty!!". No! No! No!! I just think that we should try to find the reasons why a criminal act is done instead of saying: "Why! Oh God! Why!!! Where is the world going?!!". Because if we study more the reasons behind the act, we could prevent it (in some cases), if we are intelligent enough. And don't say that it would be too complicated! The reason why everything is getting worse is because no one is willing to make an effort (the professionnals I mean) or invest. It's more convenient to shove pills in the mouths of people than to help them fight their demons. Without saying: "A normal person does this, do the same!". No! Let's say that someone likes to cut flesh. Do not replace the act of cutting (in general, a murderer feels satisfaction afterwards) but lets replace the flesh by...I dunno...clay or a piece of meat from the grocery...I know, this sounds a bit wacky but what I'm trying to say is that professionnals lack creativity. I agree that we must lock up the criminals for the safety of the population but we have to do more than just lock them up and fill them with pills. At least we could try!
