Hunting and traveling
Annatar
Faerlas, forgot to answer your questions...
yes there is hunting in Ireland. Mostly pest control, Rabbit, Fox, Crow etc. Maximum rifle calibre of .22, above this and you need a special permit on top of the licence. Only game keepers get these permits, mostly for culling deer. As far as I know there is no "gentry on horse back" chasing foxes with hounds in the Republic.
Gun control is fairly tight. No handguns, no high powered rifles, no automatics. A licence requires you have access to land on which to hunt.
Hopefully this will not kick off the whole right to bear arms nonsense... :)
Distance/Time to cross Ireland... well depends... if you take your time. North to south is longer than east to west. I drove from Donegal (northern most county) to Kerry (southern most county) in 9 hours. But then I did take a few weird roads and did get held up in Mallow (the place was like the Bermuda triangle, couldn't escape). A neighbour did the Donegal - Cork run in 5 hours. Mad speed. Someone say something about women drivers???!!!
See you all later :) Ash Nazg...
