Why the interest in him by the by?

Ohh Farlas, the purpose of Saints?
Saints are just deceased humans, who are in Heaven. (Michael the Archangel is not a saint as he was never human)
Anywho getting back to Catholic Church and Saints. Apart from inspiring people as a result of their lives, Saints are just neighbours who happen to be in Heaven. I have no hesitancy in asking any neighbour to pray for me (or any other intention) to the Lord. Jesus said more the merrier when it came to praying to God for a single intention. "When 3 or more pray...."
This includes Our Lady as well.
The Gospels also describe in a parable how a damned richman and a saved begger could see the actions of people left behind on Earth, namely the richman's brothers. This shows how the saints (even the damned) can hear what we say, and so, can hear us when we ask them to join us in prayer and praise of God for an specific intention. (while some could argue this didnt actually happen, that the story was merely illustative, Jesus would not base a lesson on a falsehood, and so, those who have gone before us can see and hear us)

Thats it ina nutshell.

Me a conservative?! Dont know really. I am what I am, a flawed ejit with one or three ideas.
To me Faith is a very personal thing that should govern how I as a person live and interact with God and my neighbour. To me there is no conflict between the science of discovery and that of my belief in God. To me Evolution and Genesis do not contradict each other. Noah's flood does take place, flooding his known world of a portion of the Middle-east. (No way could two of each creature be kept on a boat with enough water, fodder, meat and salt for decades - see previous posts on why I say years). He's a prosperous land owner who builds a boat for a cross section of his livestock.

Anywho, there ya go.

Oh Well Better do some work :) Ash Nazg....
