What of the Knights Templar?
Annatar

Everett, on the nature of Jesus, where, how, does both the Divine and human co-exist so-ta-speak is a tough one. I never subcribed to the teaching of "mysteries". God I believe makes things very simple, its just us that makes things messed up.
My view of Christ is not set in concrete (I havent finished teasing it all out), It could be as the Church teaches that Jesus was totally human and also totally Divine (how anyone, anything can be totally two things I dont know - and you know I hate mysteries. Course, God CAN do whatever he wants to...) or as a certain view I'm leaning towards is that Jesus -> body = human, Soul = Divine. At times Christ allowed the human aspect a voice, that being Gethsemane.

Into this also comes the Eucharist. My previous use of language was ...and is ... sorely lacking. How do you describe the actual being that is God??!!! I just borrowed the image that is used in the Old Testament.. burning bush etc etc...
I truely believe God is in the Host, whether or not the bread is totally changed, to my mind is not important (a bit like asking did Christ have long hair or short?; what colour clothes did he wear? - not majorly important to the Faith).

**** a few minutes later *****

Hmmmmm what a difference a few minutes make... I think I have just reversed course on virtually all the above. It comes to mind that unless the Spirit within Christ had at least a Human aspect, Christ could not claim to struggle under the same burden of life and evil like the rest of us.
Maybe there are mysteries...
OK....
Annatar was wrong (gasp ...yeah yeah yeah it happens {rarely hehehe})
Christ is totally Divine and totally human, how exactly I dunno.
As for the Eucharist... The important part is I believe its Christ in a very real, non-symbolic way. You are receiving the Flame that is God...

Farlas' Sister, sorry never seen "Peeps" over here... I wouldnt be a big mashmallow fan.
Skittles, and those sweet/sour cola bottles hmmmmmmmmm

Farlas...
"....would say that the government being able to exectue people goes back to Leviticus law, and that God controls the hearts of kings. I think part of it may be that if He established that it should be the government, then He could have murderer's exectued with out the world turning to anarchy."
So does that mean the legitimate government of Nazi Germany by mere fact of being legitimately elected etc had the authority under Leviticus to execute thoses it deemed a threat to both Fatherland and Christian Faith? Also that Hitlers heart was controlled by God? (which also has huge implications for free will)

"Jesus stopped them from stony Mary Magdelene as a symbol of the fact that they were about to enter teh Age of Grace, in which such sins could be covered by His act upon the cross."
Not totally sure where you were going with this, but Christs death and more importantly His Resurrection is the act of a God that is of All time at the same time (I dont think the english language was designed for this twisting...). What I mean is, for God all happens at the same "time"... while He's talking to Moses, He's also talking to Abraham, He's talking to us and He's talking to people a million years from now - all at the same "time".
Where do I get this? God calls himself "I AM!" which implys a constant state of the present.
A mind bender I know.
This then means the Death and Resurrection has effect through all time, before and after the first easter week.

And so, only those without sin can carry out executions, wars..... etc. Leviticus may say a man who commits murder is to be put to death, mayhaps he deserves it, but no human on earth, no government (who is the people) can carry it out. Leviticus is God's way of saying how serious a sin a certain action is.

Elves didnt use their magic in the third age? They did! they used it very subtly... they bewitched humans to fight their wars for them.
AHhhh the sorrow of it alll!!!

Hehe
See you all later :) Ash Nazg....

Everett, thanks for the previous post - methinks it put my thinking back on the tracks again. much appreciated!!
