Multiple things

Farlas....
"Sure Noah's flood was local! All the continents were still shoved together, and the mountains weren't formed yet because they formed as the continents drifted! And have you thought about how large the ark was? If he took two of every animal, a few extra sheep and so forth, there would be room for all them, his family, and some more. And as far as feeding and all that goes, I personally think God put them all into hibernation of sorts. God is a God of miracles. I firmly believe He could and did do that."
-Nowhere in the Bible does it say anything about a single landmass, violent land shifts after the flood and the hibernation of ark animals. They are just inventions to try an resolve problems in a theory. We cannot add bits in to resolve any holes in our theories/beliefs. God is indeed a God of miracles, but just because He could do something, doesnt mean He did.
Just about the Ark, the real issue is not so much the journey/feeding in the Ark its the years afterwards. Perhaps up to 20 odd years to allow the herbivore herd to breed sufficient stock to allow the Carnivores to feed. So for those 20 years Noah had to feed all the carnivores from food stock sequestered onto the Ark. 20 years worth of a meat mountain for 2 of every kind of carnivore, including a mountain of preserving salt.
Not to mention the disaster of trying to breed from just 2 of a species. Trust me, you get one cow and one bull and try and build a herd, within two or three generations of inbreeding you have deformed and serile offspring. Unless God did a miracle not recorded in the Bible that covered this as well.
How many miracles were not recorded in that case?
Maybe the miracle of Evolution. To quote a very knowledgeable Woman "God is a God of miracles. I firmly believe He could and did do that."
:)

"Oh, and is Pope John Paul the Great the one that just died? I know he was John Paul the Third, ..."
Erm Pope John Paul II....

Everyone in Heaven (cept Angels) are Saints. Named Saints are those people the Church trusts to be in Heaven.
There is nothing in the Rich man - Lazarus Parable, actually quite the opposite, that stops Lazarus from hearing what happens on earth. Communication between earth and heaven is possible.
In Psalm 103, we pray, "Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will!" (Ps. 103:20-21).
This psalm points out that even the Angels in Heaven hear what we say...

Martin Luther, actually I dont know how the Church views him. Personally (while I think in somethings he was wrong) I think he was just what was needed. The Church hierarchy needed a good kicking to knock some sense into them. Great evils and great injustices were being allowed to florish unchecked, he started the ball rolling to get it sorted. He is to be thanked.
One wishes they were all alittle less hotheaded and arrogant back then. We could all be one happy TRUE Church. But then as we are is better, we act as a check on each other. Hopefully making sure no Christian Church makes the mistakes of the past ever again.
We are many flocks in the one fold. All humans belong to the fold, belong to God, whether they acknowledge God, Jesus etc or not.

One thing that bugs me with the Catholic Church (at least in Ireland) is the lack of proper teaching. In someways we need some good Baptist methods in teaching - Sunday school and the like.
All priests should be Missionary priests because everyone needs to be "continously converted" to the faith. We allow it to cool to at best a low simmer. It just aint good enough!

Me? a Day-Age theorist? I suppose I could loosely be called that. A universe billions of years old, evolution, Adam and Eve the first humans (that is to say the first endowed with a soul created in the image of God)
Makes sense and doesnt contradict Genesis. It just looks at what is said from a different, imagery driven, angle.

Anywho better head off.

Hey Opalys, how you doing girl!? silly question I know, but we do care about ya....

See you all later :) Ash Nazg...

Ohh nice big question: what you all recon about the sposed "Gospel of Judas"?
