Bumped, bruised, and sore
Farlas

YAY! I made it back with a number of scratches, scrapes, bruises, bumps, and a few sore limbs and neck. But I am fine. Really. Just not unscathed. I think everyone ought to hike down a mountain to go jump in a pool under a waterfall then hike back up the mountain right after. That's where I got most of my bruises. I had to crawl like Gollum on the way back, but all was well in the end.

The whole camp is set in the mountains, so stairs and climbing are unavoidable. I am now resting my tired limbs, but it seems I cannot rest my mind. *bell dings* Now for the rebuttle.

No wonder! I would think the same! That does contradict itself. *pulls out trusty KJV* Ahem *assumes lecturing tone* Genesis 2:19-22 - "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was teh name thereof. (20)And Adam gave names to all the cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the frield; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. (21) And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; (22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he woman, and brought her unto the man."

Should you read all of chapter one and two in the KJV, you will see that everything was made and then the story back tracks. Verse 19 is just reiterating the fact that the animals were made of the ground just as he was. Ashes to ashes, Dust to dust... *smiles mischeviously* Chevy's must rot and Fords must rust.

Sorry, just couldn't resist!

What do you mean by apostlistic character of the church? Do you mean that it was founded on Peter and thus all church councils have some apostlistic power?

If evolution were shown to be correct, even Theistic Evolution, then God would not be as powerful as He is, and He couldn't do everything. If God let chance create things, and I am but a creature of chance, it cheapens me. It cheapens the human race and the entire world and all within it. It lessens the value of life. If we were not created by a perfect design, and by His hands or word, then history would not be an intricately woven tale, but a tale of chance; a tale of chance that could easily end tragically and miserably at any moment. If all was made by chance and happens by chance, then there is a chance that Satan could win. If we were made by Evolution, then there is a chance that what Jesus did really doesn't amount to anything. Since of all of my beliefs are grounded in the death and resurrection of Christ and God being all powerful, I would lose EVERYTHING. All hope would be lost. Praise the Lord He is omnipotent! I need have no fear of that!

Okay, I disagree already with the whole, praying to saints and they doing miracles and all that jazz, so we won't go there again, but... I am probably being nitpicky, but isn't it kinda wrong to call Peter the Supreme Pastor? Wouldn't that be Jesus? I mean, Peter was the rock on which He built his church, but that simply means he was the first pastor. Wouldn't the Great Shepherd be the Supreme Pastor? Doesn't Jesus make all the rules? After all, Peter got everything from Him.

Oh yes, many things many different relgions/denominations etc., have bases from the Bible. So do radical fanatics that sit on top of mountains and commit mass suicide. That hardly means it is sound or correct. It means they are slicing and dicing the Bible together so it serves their purposes. So, though the Catholic Church may have Biblical bases on some things, it hardly means it is totally correct.

Well, I figured you were, but I like to play along.

Pope John Paul the Great... Pope John Paul the Second... *shrugs* makes little difference to me.

"I'd also be interested in hearing why you think things are simple, especially considering things like quantum mechanics, biology, astronomy, economics, subatomic particles, etc. which are incredibly complex. For my part, I tend to think things alternate between layers of simplicity and complexity, i.e. simple things combine to form a complex whole which then combine to form something simple, etc."

Crud... don't remember what I was talking about... hmm... let me say this then: The Gospel is simple. Most areas of doctrine are simple. Quantum mechanics, biology, and Calculus 7 are simple - to God.

Annatar: Well perhaps, though I wonder sometimes how much of sin is our own wicked little heart verses temptation by Satan and Co. Nah, I don't think Satan has any greater leeway now than he did when Noah walked the earth. I mean, it was so wicked he had to kill of nearly everyone. This hasn't happened yet by means other than flood, so apparently we're not quite as wicked as they were. Yet. I think the Devil is kept in check the same now as he was then.

That is why TODAY is the day of salvation! You can't put it off, for if you do, you may not ever get saved. You and I know not what tomorrow holds, therefore, we must get saved now. Same goes for teh guy on death row. If he had opportunity and turned down God, he condemned himself to Hell and that few extra years may not have done him any good. May have, but may not. That's why the minute the Holy Spirit convicts a soul on his need of salvation, he is best off to fall on his knees and pray lest the jailor comes to take him to his death, or he dies in his sleep, or he dies in a car crash. And the guy on death row is guilty of causing an innocent person's death. He deprived them of the chance to see another day and recieve Christ. The doomed man at least has a date. He has a chance to prepare. He is amply warned. His victim was not.

*gets down from behind pulpit* I'm done. LOL! No, I don't believe in female preachers. But sometimes I think I could preach.

I think greed got a hold of him more than anything. Earlier in scriptures you see how he was a hoarder of wealth. He practically condemned Mary when she bought the ointment to annoint Jesus' feet with. Love of money can kill.

I am half tempted to see it, just so I have an idea what others are talking about when I am forced to debate with them on it, but I probably won't. I think it is out in theaters over here, but I wouldn't know. I don't go to theaters. Mom won't let me.

Personally, I would get a kick out of reading the book then sitting down and point by point tearing it to confetti, but by the time I managed to, someone else with a brain probably will have. If they haven't already.

I wouldn't use Tolkien's works as a text book, but I am certainly for their use as a literary example.

My 7th grade Lit teacher used the Hobbit kinda that way. She was a great teacher.

I really don't recall where Turgon said what. I've read the Silmarillion, Lays of Beleriand, and the Book of Lost Tales. *shrugs* It's all confuzzled in my head.

Aw! For a minute there Annatar I thought you and I were in agreeance! LOL!

I better skeedaddle! I have a dress to make in less than a week or I must wear last year's dress to my Jr. Sr. Banquet. YIKES! Right now, my dress sits with the main thing put together with no sleeves, hems, linings, or anything like that. It doesn't even close up in the back.
