Well, since I don't think you read my part 2 before you wrote, I'm only going to go bits and pieces with this. "Part 2" is... well... I think I'm one of the reasons the Bible says, "Let your women be silent in church"...
I'm pretty sure you won't like it any better than my previous posts either...
No. As I read it, Genesis 1 is a time line (if you will) of the days of creation. After all it says on the first day God made ____, on the second day God made _______ and so forth. It is undoubtedly an order of events. This is obvious. Now, Genesis two is relating more details of latter events. I think it is possible the Garden of Eden was created after Adam was, but to have God create the birds and the beasts, then turn around, create a garden, create man again, then create all the animals again seems strange to me. Now, possibly God created more animals of the same species after the initial creation or something like that...
That website told me nothing convincing. There isn't much proof of either creation nor evolution to be quite frank, but logic seems to lean towards creation. I mean... okay, let's flip this around. My turn to ask questions. I'm tired of being on the defensive, it's your turn.
I'll give you God being responsible for the Big Bang. I'll even give you enough to create a single celled organism. We won't even debate that. Let's go from there. Theistic evolution. So, millions, billions... trillions of years... let's go back billions. We go back billions of years. The Big Bang has just happened, and what do we find? The Sun. The Sun is about the size of the solar system. We find out it is about this big after reversing the rate it has been shrinking over time. It shrinks and now it is just small enough for the earth to be there. It is a molten ball of lead. Too hot, too close to the sun, atmosphere too thin to support life. Problem 1: by now the dinosaurs are supose to be roaming the earth. They can't be. Unless they can endure sun-like temperatures they will fry. Problem 2: The earth is spinning WAAAAY too fast. It has been slowing down over time you know. So, our dinosaurs are frying and flying right off the globe. Problem 3: Your dinosaurs don't exist because they haven't evolved yet because the earth has been either apart of the sun or too hot to allow life. According to the evolutionary time line, we're in a pickle.
Finally the earth cools down enough to sustain life and God wraps an atmosphere around it. Simple celled organisms are born. Problem 4: We should be getting rid of dinosaurs and getting close to prehistoric man, yet, frogs haven't been evolved yet.
So, did God half make everything then let evolution take it's course? If He did, I hope everything evolved fast, because if it all didn't, the sun would be too small and the earth would be frozen over by now.
The only way I can kinda see this working is if God made everything, then put the universe in suspended animation for a few billion years as humans and all that came about, then let everything go again. But, problem: Unless God worked a world wide miracle, half the earth would be scorched and the other half frozen because everything was in suspended animation. Perhaps you could have the sun not deteriorate as the world rolled around it, but now we're getting ridiculous!
The only way for all this to work out in any resemblence of order is to have God create everything but animals, then put it all in suspended animation until humans were made. At which point, why not just make humans? Wouldn't that be faster? Also, God must have put a stop on evolution, because otherwise, all female humans would have at least four arms by now.
Survival of the fittest doesn't work either, because what happens when a creature is only half evolved? It can't do anything. No defence, no offense. Therefore, what does it do when a more evolved, functioning creature attacks? Dies out. If this was so, God would have to presere everything He wanted for later. In which case I ask again, Why not just create it? Also, if we evolved from monkeys, why are they still around?
Oh, and natural causes as a supernatural foundation. Nothing works with out God. If He hadn't written the laws that govern it, it wouldn't come about.
But see, the difference between the pope and Christ is that one day all will acknowledge Him for who and what He is. This will not happen with the pope.
If you can show me where in the Bible it says that it is unbiblical to get doctrine only from the Bible, I will study it and if I find it true I shall believe it. As it is, I have not seen such evidence. But I will gladly and openly look if you show it to me.
Annatar! You were so close! You should have crossed over. One day I'm going to prove to you it's done in vain. But I'll let it drop for now.
Okay, officially the church may not have taught it, but it looks a lot like saint-worship from this side of the fence. But, Baptists can be just as guilty about "worshiping" pastors. I've seen it. It's sad.
I dunno, I'm always more impressed with perfection the first time, then trial and error perfection. To me, if God could get us perfectly made on the first try, it looks more powerful than, "Uh... almost... but not quite. Guess I should change this and this. Oh now that's better!" This may be a matter of perspective though.
No! May I remind you of Hebrews 11:1-3? And if He didn't want us to know Him, He wouldn't have given us His word, He wouldn't have told us straight out He was God, and He sure wouldn't have said "Be still and know that I am God." He would have said, "Here, here's a few clues, go have fun finding me." He wants us to know Him. He is not hiding from us, He has proclaimed Himself time and again through out history. Otherwise there would have been no mircles ever. Otherwise He wouldn't have threatened to make the rocks proclaim it if His children didn't. He wants us Annatar, He wants us to know Him. And He does want us to obey Him out of fear. "With fear and trembling" but not the bad fear. It's the respectful fear like one should have for a lord or a king, or a president. We are to fear God, but not be afraid of Him.
Christians obey Him out of fear, not terror.
And Yoda is speaking of the terror/afraid fear, not respectful fear. Anakin was afraid, then full of hatred, then he became your dark brother Darth Vader. :o)
And yet, in the end, all humans have the same template. Two ears, two eyes, two hands, two feet, etc. And I personally believe birth defects such as cleft pallets to club limbs are side effects of The Curse, but that they are still in the image of God. Though, it could be the soul. But what animal looks like the human? I mean, yeah, arguably some monkeys do in the face, but build is still pretty different. I mean, if we walked around on our hands like they do, we would have cramped legs, sore backs, and bloody hands.
That, and no animal is irrational enough to change it's mind about everything so much. Animals are far more consistent than humans, save in stupidity. We seem to be the reigning champs in consecutive centuries of idiocy.
That was a good argument, however, I disagree. If that was the case, then God wouldn't have said what He did in that verse I showed you, nor would he have set forth laws of vengeance for murders. That would be contradictory. I think Cain was given a mark, and him alone to be spared, that he may wallow in the life long guilt of being the first murderer. Which would be a miserable punishment. However, the Bible clearly shows God's demand for blood for remission of sins and desire for vengeance against they that kill, so no. Capital punishment is endorsed by the Bible. However, clemency can be found. In the old testament it was in the safe cities for they that acommited man slaughter, and in modern times it is pardon from the governor for full fledged murder and jail time for man slaughter.
Everett, love your cast choices. I think they should be used. We'll call, "THere and Back Again, Remixed."
Must run!
