Wise Sauron
Annatar
Hi Farlas,
why is the Lord Of The Rings not evil? I take it you mean the Character not the story itself...
Well of course the victors write the histories, Elves and their deluded allies saw it best to portray the benign Sauron as evil. They exaggerated any unfortunate incidents on the part of forces of Mordor, while covering up the genocides of the "Allies". The massacre of the Dunlendings...
All Sauron wanted, as Tolkien himself said, was order. This in itself is not evil.
Hehe
Everett, I have to say I'm alittle in awe of some of the Posts you submit.
Kudoes!
Ohh Farlas, just a thought on the whole, Fear is what God wants... etc... types of fear etc
All fear is a negative emotion. Anything negative cannot be assigned to God. I do however take on what you mean.
I have at times been a Bee Keeper. Mean tempered Bees they be too...
I do not fear them, but I'd be highly foolish not to Respect them.
This is what I think God wants... First and foremost Love, but also Respect. He does not went his Children to Fear him. Any decent human parent does not want their children to fear them, Respect yes, fear no. How much more then does you Father in heaven not want fear but Love and Respect!!?! (the whole "...ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone?" (Luke 11:11-13))
Lem, interesting as the whole Judas Gospel is, I believe it is a loada bal*****
I don't think Judas was thinking of selling out Christ for money, I think he wanted to force a confrontation between Christ and the High priest & Romans etc
I think he saw Christ as the new improved King David, who would sort out the earthly kingdom. Just imagine the guilt when the man be believed to be the Messiah was crucified because of actions.
Poor man.
Hopefully Christ will take him home.
Farlas, just about the Death Sentence. Unless we KNOW, without doubt that God allows us to take the life of murderers, rapists, adulterers etc, we cannot take the chance. There is too much at risk. Also even if go-ahead from God is given, we could only administer it if we ourselves are wiser than Solomon and also without sin.
Indeed failure to show mercy is a two edged sword, if we fail to show mercy, even to unrepentant murderers (perhaps moreso), then we cannot make claim on God's mercy ourselves.
We will need it.
Best to leave it in God's hands and, as a previously stated webpage said, not force our timetable of death/redemption on to God. He is our Master not the otherway about.
It still boils down to this, you show me a wise enough person who is without sin, who as a result can claim authority to bestow and carry out a death sentence and I'll show you a prideful hypocrite.
HMmmmmmmm LOTRs helps too...
As Gandalf would say:
"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the wise cannot see all ends. I have not much hope that Gollum can be cured before he dies, but there is a chance of it."
Slan Abhaile Mho Chara! :) Ash Nazg...
