Morian Valaraukar
Annatar

I'll keep this short and sweet, just a little thing Richard P. said, that Sauron was unaware of the existence of the Balrog im Moria... for years Sauron lived within a "stones" throw of Moria, Dol Guldur. the story of the eviction of the dwarves from Khazad-dum is well known, ok many would have been unaware of what was awoken, but sauron would have made it his business to find out, plus he would have sensed the Balrogs power. In short he knew what Durin's bane was.
Why didnt he use the balrog? maybe without the ring he was bereft of the power necessary to assert control and authority over it. but i dont think so, even without the ring Sauron was by far the most powerful individual in middle-earth (Gandalf destroyed the balrog and even he acknowledged sauron was his better :) ). no i believe Sauron was content to leave the balrog where he was to continue keeping dwarves out of Moria. He never forgave them for helping the elves during his assault on Eregion. wellll thats what i think anyways. makes sense too. good luck... Please sign the "No To Elvish Propaganda" Petition.. :)
