Caislean Oir
Annatar
Speaking Irish... Well I am terrible at it. I dare say a few real speakers with a cúpla focal Gaeilge that have read my posts are thinking Annatar's butchering the language.
I'm strangely proud that I have never passed an exam in Irish. If you are gonna be cack at something you may as well do it good!
But then I was never a languages kinda guy. First year in secondary school I was pretty handy in French class. After that it went downhill pretty fast. Math, Physics, Chemistry, Tech/Mech drawing I was cool at. Languages...erm... no.
Oh and there is only one true form of Gaelic and thats the Donegal Irish. The rest is a Jackeen/West Brit version.
Ahhh the pleasure that follows annoying people. Mostly people in the other 31 counties of the island of Ireland.
I see "The wind that shakes the barley" won the Palme D’Or. Might go looksee at the weekend. Course it's meant to be a favourite of Fianna Fail. They of De Valera stock. Backstabbers the lot o' em!! Michael Collins is... was... your only man!
Good film ye should all check out "Michael Collins" - Liam Neeson playing the "Big Fella", Alan Rickman playing the aforementioned original backstabber.
Cool movie.
Still, all people of a Nationalist persuasion can agree the Black and Tans were a bunch of evil *********** *** *** and *** *****
But then in those times the Republican/Nationalist/Catholics were hardly whiter than white. At that time, as the Unionists in the North would say, the Free State was a Cold House for southern protestants.
Too many hurts on both sides.
Anywho enough political ranting for now :) Ash Nazg...
PS. Caislean Oir - Castles of Gold. A book we had to do in school. Needless to say a lovely depressing ending...
