info needed about jacksons city

hi out there

I need some some help from you about Peter Jacksons artificial city for his creative crew at new Zeeland. I am study Anthropology in Denmark and i am doing some research about artificial sites of creativity. Do anybody know something about this city Jackson created? I heard he build it up from scratch and created a whole community to be sure he could attrach the greatest artist for his movie project? With schools and everything? And that everything have been removed again when they were finished shooting after the 3-4 years?

Can anybody help me? I think its really interresting what have happened afterwards...
