Re: Forest Dweller
Sarah

Forest dweller, about where the dragons came from. I think (and I don't know if I read this or I just think I read this) that the dragons were creatures or animals that Morgoth took and turned to evil. You know what, maybe I shouldn't write about this, because now I'm not sure. Oh well. I do know they weren't eagles (good idea though. I like that). They were dragons, they just got corrupted.

About the balrog. I think that if he had beat gandalf and gotten the ring, he wouldn't have had it for long. Sauron IS more powerful. The balrog wouldn't have had that power for long. And I think that balrog would be worse with the ring, but I know sauron would have actually been the worse one (weird thought).

As for the Balrog being aware of gandalf. I don't think he ever was. When you read in the appendixes, everytime the dwarves tried to take back Moria, "Durin's Bane" would show up. I think that the balrog knew someone was up there (thanks to pippin) and so he went up there, expecting meddling dwarves again, and THEN he found out about gandalf. He might not even have ever known who exactly gandalf was (but maybe he did). I don't think the fire on the mountain did any harm at all. It's never referred to again! I was going to say one other thing about the Balrog, but now I can't remember. Darn it.
