Just a quick comment on Anna's posting. You are probably right, though there might be a risk of making the hobbits into a bunch of silly stereotypical munchkins if Jackson tried to make them too bouncy. I thought your criticism would be much better directed at the depiction of elves. They just came across like a bunch of depressed, cynical, stern beings. Didn't Sam say something like being with the elves was sort of like being in a song? Well, if that's true, it seemed like a dirge.
